The first newsletter of the Autumn term
Welcome to a new School Year. We have decided this year to make the newsletter a weekly affair so that you are kept up to date on events as they happen at Bethany School.
From my perspective, the new School Year has started very positively; our staff have, once again, gone the extra mile to ensure that all of the new pupils settle in very well. I have spoken to many new pupils and all of them are very pleased with how well their first week has gone. I asked one pupil, in the presence of his mother, to rate the School out of ten and after a moment or two of quite serious reflection he rated it as 9.5 out of 10. I now regret not asking him about the other half!
Our whole School production this year will be Bugsy Malone and auditions for this took place this week.
Our sporting fixtures start next week and I wish all of our sports teams the best of luck.
The Pengelly Society – our Sixth Form Cultural Society – will have its first meeting on Thursday at 7.00pm in the Function Suite and all members of the Sixth Form are invited to this.
Friday sees Bethany School host our annual school charity walk. Different tutor groups walk around the Kent countryside and any funds raised are split between charities and their respective houses; no doubt there will be some weary limbs on Friday evening. There is also an open air Equinox Festival, organised by our Year 13 BTEC Music pupils, later on that evening and I hope that it will be well attended.
I am looking forward to the Wine and Canapés evening this evening for new parents. This is primarily an occasion for new parents to meet each other and to put faces to names of their children’s new friends.
Yours sincerely,
Francie Healy Headmaster
