I greatly enjoyed attending the FOBS sponsored Fish and Chips Quiz evening last Saturday. Once again, it was a particularly nice way to spend some time with Bethany parents. The wine flowed and the knowledge stumbled! Congratulations to the winning team who were called The Exiteers as they were composed of parents of Year 13 pupils as well as other parents whose children have left Bethany having completed their A levels in the last few years. It is always nice to see parents return to the School after their children have left, as it is further proof that they hold the School in genuinely high regard.
Year 8 pupils have enjoyed their Project Based Learning days this week. It was great to see them so enthused and committed to their learning. I would like to thank the teachers involved in this initiative, as they willingly give additional time to ensure that the necessary planning and delivery takes place.
Nationally, of course, the nation is focused on the spread of the coronavirus. We are continuing to monitor the situation at Bethany very closely indeed and I am pleased that so many of you are reassured by my frequent updates.
Our sports fixtures, particularly for the boys, have been adversely affected by the weather due to unplayable pitches, but I am pleased that the girls have been able to play their netball matches.
The Sixth Form cultural society, The Pengelly Society, has a meeting next Thursday night and it is going to be addressed by Alex Hibbert, a British polar expedition leader, author and photographer. It promises to be a most informative evening.
There is a Year 8 Parent Teacher Meeting next Friday in the Function Suite. Starting at 5.15pm and I hope to see as many of you there as possible.
Yours sincerely
Francie Healy - Headmaster
